Ballard Marine Construction salvage team members were on scene at the Port of Portland, OR in response to a container barge that had capsized during offloading operations. The conditions called for a par-buckling operation to right the vessel. A combination of specialized underwater rigging, earth moving equipment, crane barges and large anchors were utilized to successfully roll the barge upright. “Big Bin” a 42′ X 244′ X 16′ barge also contained one hundred loaded containers that were all salvaged from the river bottom.
All work was coordinated with the United States Coast Guard and various state agencies.
