Cathodic Protection Install

Dutch Harbor, AK - Anodes

Owner: American President Lines

Ballard mobilized to a remote location for the installation of 500 each 125 lb. anodes and 175 each 200 lb. anodes. The anodes were transferred by a tender on a specialized float system to the working diver for maximum efficiency. The 200 lb. anodes were installed on H-pile fender piles and the 125 lb. anodes were installed on round pile pier support piles. Each pile took anywhere from one to four anodes and were placed for maximum cathodic protection per engineers specifications, around the piles.

Scheduling was of the utmost importance due to high vessel traffic. Even though production was hindered by high winds and inclement weather that was common to the area, this project was completed on time with zero safety incidents.  Final video inspection report of the certified fillet weld was provided as documentation of work performed.
