Howard Frankland Bridge Pile Templates

In 1987, the Florida Department of Transportation decided it was necessary to construct a new Howard Franklin Bridge across the Tampa Bay. The new bridge parallels the existing Howard Franklin Bridge at 15,873 linear feet from abutment to abutment.

Triad Fabricators was selected to fabricate approximately 1,200 tons of pile templates for the project. The project required value engineering to facilitate assembly utilizing bolted connections as opposed to field welded connections.

Triad added additional value to the project by utilizing Traylor Bros.’ river access terminal in Wickliffe, KY to ship the fully assembled templates to Florida via barges.
